On one retreat years ago , the speaker asked people , " Are you willing to carry the cross with Jesus. " Lots of people stood up, but I did not know what it mean .

But I kept this question in my heart since then. Through the years of life and service, I started to understand and appreciate the depth of the question.

First, the cross that Jesus was carrying was not only a cross , but also the burden of our sin, the sin of all the people. Jesus died for us when we were utterly helpless, were still sinners, and were still enemy of the God. So, If you want to carry the cross with the Lord, bear the sin of the people.

Secondly, the Lord carried the cross out of the love of the God. The God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners, and the Lord showed his great love for us by carrying the cross and died for us on the cross. So if you want to carry the cross with the Lord, carry the cross out of the love of God.

Thirdly, the Lord carried the cross to bring people to the God. By his blood, we have been made right in the sight of the God; by his death, our relationship with the God has been restored; by the wonderful new relationship with the God, we now have great joy of life. So, if you want to carry the cross with the Lord, carry the cross to bring people to the God.

The Lord carried the burden of our sin out of the love of the God to bring people to the God. This is the meaning of carrying the cross to me.

Would you accept the grace of the Lord ? Would you carry the cross with the Lord?

Blessings.

Bible verses,

When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners. Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.

And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation. For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son. So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God. Romans‬ ‭5:6-11‬ ‭NLT‬‬
