They confessed their own sins and the sins of their ancestors
People like to share the God's love, count the God's blessing in their lives, but very rarely confess their sin to the Lord. Actually, the greatest love of the God is his forgiveness to our sin.
After rebuilding the wall of Jeruselem, the entire Israel community assemblied together. They fasted , dressed in burlap and sprinkled dust on their heads. They confessed their own sin and the sin of their ancestors to the God. They stood there listening to the law of the God and cried out to the Lord with a loud voice.
What a powerful moment!
So, come to the Lord and confess your sin to the Lord, stay away from the sin and walk in the way of righteousness , the Lord will surely forgive you and lead you in his way and in his abundant love.

Those of Israelite descent separated themselves from all foreigners as they confessed their own sins and the sins of their ancestors. They remained standing in place for three hours while the Book of the Law of the Lord their God was read aloud to them. Then for three more hours they confessed their sins and worshiped the Lord their God. The Levites—Jeshua, Bani, Kadmiel, Shebaniah, Bunni, Sherebiah, Bani, and Kenani—stood on the stairway of the Levites and cried out to the Lord their God with loud voices.
