提问式领导力:卡内基学员领导力案例

There is one person I work with who is very negative. He has a lot of concerns and stress when there is problem. I would like to change his attitude so that he won’t be so worried all day long. First I ask myself I should be more patient when working with him. So he won’t be made nervous and upset. Second, I invited him for team activities so he feels more relaxed.
Last week, when checking the costing form from supplier, I found some mistakes on fabric consumption & trims cost which is inconsistent with other styles. I asked the supplier if she checked the costing before send to us, she answered that “no, is there any mistake?” Instead of giving direct order to ask her to check by herself and make correction, I asked “do you think the fabric consumption & trims cost should be consistent with other styles as they are similar ones?”
Realizing her mistake, she said immediately to me that” sorry, I’ll check and make correction to you immediately.” If as usual, the supplier would say to me that ”we only put our profits into that part” when I asked her to make correction of the cost by directly asking them to do, but this time, she showed immediate cooperation without defending.
GOAWAYCOMEBACK COMMENT
Dale Carnegie Principle 25
Ask questions instead of giving direct orders.
Whenever there is a mistake, almost no one liked to be taught a lesson, that’s why they will forget the lesson soon and repeat the same mistake again. Rather if we can help them find out the lesson by asking proper questions, they will keep the lesson and be grateful to us.
