英语中很多的笑话以及它的幽默是很难在中文体现出来的。同样，在中文中有的笑话以及它的幽默感也很难用英语讲出来。
有幸认识一朋友。他说话幽默风趣。但也特别难把他的幽默风趣感在英语中体现出来。最近我就碰到一个这种情况。请看下面的他与客人的对话：
客人：”我女儿特别喜欢击剑. 她在北京她们学校击剑总是拿第一名”。
朋友：”那她是中国冠军”！
另一朋友：”她在北京哪个学校”？
客人：”我女儿在北京国际学校”。
朋友：”那她应该是世界冠军”！
只有懂中文的人才会体会到我朋友的说话幽默风趣感。我用了5分钟才把它翻译成英文讲给座在我傍边的外国朋友听。这种幽默风趣是特别难翻译。有的笑话一旦被翻译成外语，就失去了它的幽默。不信请看下面曾被评为全世界第一的笑话：
Two hunters are out in the woods when one of them falls to the ground. He doesn’t seem to be breathing and his eyes have rolled back in his head. The other guy whips out his mobile phone and calls the emergency services. He gasps to the operator: “My friend is dead! What can I do?” The operator, in a soothing voice, says: “Just take it easy. I can help. First, let’s make sure he’s dead.” There is a silence, then a shot is heard. The guy’s voice comes back on the line. He says: “OK, now what?”
这个笑话在被翻译成中文后就没有它的幽默风趣感了。
