Shaquille O'Neal was elected into the basketball hall of fame, together with Yao Ming and Allen Iverson. In his acceptance speech, he joked that he is not good at listening to rules.
Interestingly enough, I realize that I have the same problem. Sometimes, I even find excuse and think that only the Pharisees stick to rules.
But Paul asked Titus to promote the kind of living that reflects the wholesome teachings, asked himself to be an example by doing good work of all kinds, and let everything he did to reflect the integrity and sincereness of his teachings.
Why and how should we follow the teachings? Here are several points I learnt from the short bible paragraph.
Firstly, the right perspective. The teachings are not only some rule or rituals as in the Old Testament, the teachings are the truth and words of life, these will give you the wisdom of living. The teachings are wholesome , follow it.
Secondly, the right attitude. Do not take the teachings lightly, instead treat the teachings with integrity and seriousness. Then you will be willing to follow the teachings and live a godly life.
Thirdly, the great reward. Living a godly life is not only a blessing to yourself , but also a protection and weapon against those who appose us. They will be ashamed and have nothing bad to say against us.
So, live your life which reflect the wholesome teachings, and let everything you do reflect the integrity and seriousness of your teachings.
