Paul was the apostle called by the Lord to send the good news to the Gentiles. What is the purpose of the good news?
Paul made it very clear that the purpose of his instruction is that all the believers would be filled with love which comes from a pure heart, a clear conscience , and genuine faith.
The purpose of the gospel is to fill all the believers with love, not to satisfy intellectual curiosity.
But some people wasted lots of time in endless discussion of myths and spiritual pedigrees. These things only lead to meaningless speculations, which don’t help people live a life of faith in God.
So Paul charged Timothy to stop people from meaningless discussion, and focus people on the real purpose of the gospel, which is to fill all the believers with love.
God is love. He wants his children to be filled with his love, and this is the purpose of all his teachings.
