This week’s toastmaster meeting fell on the Chinese New Year, and it certainly felt like New Year, there were Chinese traditional decorations and lots of laughters in the meeting room. We had a great turnout, with quite a few new faces joining the meeting, they are Bing, Meng, Julie, and Michael.

Our treasurer JenniferY opened the meeting, followed by toastmaster HaiwenM. 
Table topic was led by FeiW, as you can guess, the topic of the day is Chinese New Year. In the first section for grownups, Ji shared her childhood memories of New Year, Meng talked about why it’s important for her kids to learn Chinese. In the second section for kids, we had great participation from kids who were eager to share what they know about Chinese culture.

Speakers -
ShiminL introduced herself and why she joined Toastmasters. Her speech was beautifully written and well delivered, bravo on the first and successful speech for her!
AdamX made a keynote speech about GRIT and how it would make a difference in people’s success. Adam is a veteran toastmaster speaker, he definitely knows how to keep the audience engaged. He might have set the bar too high for us now, but that won’t stop us from trying:)

All Roles, no matter big or small, play a critical role in the meeting’s success. While we thank all kids who volunteered for these roles, we also would like to remind all this is great training for kids to practice their listening skills. Attentive listening is half way to effective communication.
