First club meeting! New Years Resolution!

We had a successful first meeting on 1/14/2017. VP of membership WendyW kicked off the meeting with a warm welcome, followed by AdelineG leading the Pledge and Inspiration. President BillW set the topic for meeting – New Years Resolution.

Our functionary roles were filled by KateL (jokemaster), AdelineG (timer), BillW (word master & grammarian), HaiwenM (ah counter). All did an outstanding job in their designated roles.

FeiW did an icebreaker speech sharing her own experience of exercising and encouraging audience to start working out in the New Year.

HaiwenM evaluated Fei’s speech, provided detailed yet valuable feedback, his suggestion for improvement was right to the point.

Table Topic was led by our beloved Treasurer JenniferY. She asked engaging questions about the New Year’s resolution, and made sure everyone attending the meeting had the opportunity to speak. Everyone regardless the age or experience did an exceptional job. In the end the audience voted the Ryan as the Best Table Topics. This was Ryan’s first meeting, he stated cleared and confidently his ideas and suggestions as how to make toastmaster meetings successful.

Our guest Adam shared his experience starting the toastmaster journey and how he became a seasoned speaker. We thank him for sharing the knowledge and look forward to meeting him in this club more often in the future.

We are off to a great start, thanks to all who joined and participated the meeting!

A note for future meetings: our toastmaster meeting is scheduled for room R220 (far end of west corner on the second floor). Please arrive a few minutes early to allow time to find the room. If there is any room change in the future, we will communicate via emails & wechats as soon as possible.
