Reading the book of Daniel today, I am very impressed by his faith, courage, and humbleness.
Daniel was one of the captives taken to Babylon when he was still young. The king Nebuchadnezzar 's favor was upon him, he was selected among a few to be trained to serve in the royals court. They were provided with food and wine by the king.
It was amazing that Daniel was determined not to defile himself by eating the food and wine given to them by the king. Even he was an captive in a foreign country, his faith was not destroyed, instead was determined to stay true to his faith.
Facing the challenge, Daniel did not ran away , he had no where to ran ; he did not rebel and even put on a fight, he had no way to win any fight; and he did not yield and give up his faith either.
He humbly asked the chief of staff for permission not to eat these unacceptable foods. And God is faithful, God gave the chief of staff both respect and affection for Daniel. After ten days of trial , he was permitted to each only vegetable and drink water.
Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.(Matthew 6:33 NLT)
As a foreigner in a foreign country, Daniel kept his faith and remained in the royal service through the Babylonia Kingdom, until the first year of the reign of King Cyrus, the king of Persia.
As Christian, we all live in the world as foreigners before we return to our home in the heaven. May the lord be with every one of his children as he was with Daniel.
