Second Sunday of May

White and pink dogwood blossoms blooming

All good sons and daughters' sweet faces smiling

It's the second Sunday of May

It's always sunny and bright, for

It's Mother's Day

Remember my first Mother's Day

When my Princess was five

I was awakened by her 

And a complete breakfast on the night stand--

Peanut butter 'n jam on bread, a cup of OJ 

And a jewelry box decorated with a glittering silver "MOM" and a red heart

Year after year

On the second Sunday of May

In bed I must stay, till breakfast is served

The first breakfast crafted by my Prince

When he was in first grade

Was sunny side up made with cheddar cheese and white bread

His young face was glowing with pride

When he brought it to my bedside

The next year, he made the sunny side in the shape of a heart

I love you so, my Prince and Princess

Especially on the second Sunday of May
