We often hear a vague saying these days ," We hate the sin, but love the people." Is that true? Can we really separate sin from sinful people, and righteousness from righteous people?

No , it is not true. Even God does not do that. When Cain and Abel gave their offering to the God,the LORD looked with favor on Abel and his offering, but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favor. And he said to Cain, "If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door."

It is really hard to separate who you are , what are in your heart, and what you are doing. So follow the Lord in your heart, and do what is right. If there any things in your heart are wrong , or any things you do are bad, repent and confess your sin to the Lord , and he will forgive you , clean your sin , and restore your conscience.

Blessings.

Bible verses,
Now Abel kept flocks, and Cain worked the soil. In the course of time Cain brought some of the fruits of the soil as an offering to the LORD. And Abel also brought an offering—fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock. The LORD looked with favor on Abel and his offering, but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favor. So Cain was very angry, and his face was downcast. Then the LORD said to Cain, “Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.” Genesis‬ ‭4:2a-7‬ ‭NIV‬‬
