Dear Principal,
After the long summer, I would like to inform you that ***(Grade *) will be absent from school from Sept.8, 2015 to Sept. 11, 2015.
I am pulling my son out of school for the first week to support those thousands of parents who oppose the new Sex Ed Curriculum. You may think it is not a wise action. I agree with you. If I knew it is not a smart decision, why am I still doing it?
I am like all other parents pulling our own kids out of schools because we feel frustrated and hopeless about the way our provincial government and Ministry of Education handle our concerns toward new sex ed curriculum. We are taxpayers who are we paying for the school system with our hard earned money but our parental rights are violated by Ministry of Education, who has been ignoring our concerns and insisting going ahead with the irresponsible sex ed curriculum without public parental consultation.
All we ask is public parental consultation and debate. We are paying for public school system. This is the minimum request that a responsible government should honour.
I feel sorry for my kids. I feel sorry for the whole public school system as well. Public education’s best interest is political interest or our kids' best interest? Who would like to answer my simple questions?
