What is the point to gain wisdom but not follow it?

People know what is right and what is wrong, but sometimes they follow their sinful hearts and do the wrong things anyway.
King Solomon knew it well that his marriage with the pharaoh's daughter was not pleased to the God, but he married her anyway. He knew the pharaoh's daughter was not holy in the God's eyes, she was not worthy to live in the holy place, as recorded in the Bible.
Solomon brought Pharaoh’s daughter up from the City of David to the palace he had built for her, for he said, “My wife must not live in the palace of David king of Israel, because the places the ark of the Lord has entered are holy.” (2 Chronicles 8:11 NIV )
Solomon's halfhearted following God led to his own corruption and the corruption of the state as well. Solomon married many foreign wives, and they led his heart away from the Lord. The country was destroyed later , and the people were exiled to the foreign lands far away.
Solomon asked God for wisdom to govern his people , but what is the point to gain the wisdom while the heart drift away from the God?
Lord, please give us your wisdom, and also give us the hearts to follow you faithfully.
