Here are some talking points when distributing flyers
1. Once built, the cemetery would be the largest private cemetery in the East Bay. It has 100-140 thousand bury plot on ~60 acres, more than the combined population of San Ramon and Danville.
2. It is not owned by the city or county, but by a private company. It is for money, NOT for the community.
3. If you want to sell your house in the future, you would have to disclose there is a giant cememtery nearby. This would drive out potential buy, and lower your house value.
4. The proposed cemetery project will turn our neighborhood into an extended funeral parlor. Every day at school, on the streets or in the parks, our children will be subjected to viewing mourners in procession. It will be confusing for them to be subjected to this constant reminder of death. (per Ken's speech in 6/24 meeting)
5. You and your children would have to see funeral processions in your streets, which would increase the traffic congestion around school pickup/drop-off, and also threat the life of chilren who walk of bike on the streets.
6. The resolution that supports the concept of a cemetery was made 9 years ago. It did not consider the new development in Gale Ranch, Windemere, Alamo Creek and East Dublin.
7. The cemetery will spoil the charm of the tassajara valley and nearby communities.
8. (for windemere residents) we pay a higher tax rate for the good schools, parks and open space, but NOT for the cemetery.
9. A cemetery will permanently deplete the underground water resources and destory natural habitats.
10. There are enough cemeteries. For the cemeteries within 20 minutes driving, there are 232 acres to expand.
