Two Rivers Flow Together
By Bill Fester

There is no reluctance.
There is not mine or yours and no remorse.
The current carries like an invisible clock, forward to the sea.

There is remembrance of before, nor can nor plan for the way.
There is only now, brisk and tempestuous or smooth and still.

The river is not the rocks on the banks or the fish and branches swimming or floating.
It is not the mud or sand or lost trinkets at the edges.
The river is indifferent to that. It is nobler.

The sea is inevitable.
Why deny or disparage it?
But until then let's run the course.

 译:陈美 (translated by Mei Chen)

Journey
By Bill Fester

A leaf flips and flutters
Softly lights on water
Life over and a journey begun
The current controls gently
Softly toward forever
Does the leaf resist?
Does it cry out?
Does it sense Heaven?

The stream quickens
Light glitters off the water.
Is this The Path?
Or A Path?

Those leaves still rustling on the tree wave in their grief.
All knowing but not admitting
That they will soon follow.

(Translated by Jing Gao)
