With the goal of improving mental health for students, the Parent Education Night,Feeling Out of Sync with your Teen? Bridging Cultural Gaps intentionally expands the concept of ‘culture’ to a broader view. This view includes the relationship between parent and teen and the dynamic cultural divide that exists therein. The expanded view of culture and how cultureal “gaps” create parenting challenges and affect parent-child relations will be addressed. Presentations will cover cultural divides including that of first-generation children of immigrants, LGBTQ, digital native, and generational or ‘goodness of the fit’ divide. The goal is to stimulate the audience to think in a broader way about their own culture, and how to bridge the gaps in relationships that culture presents.
