Kou Campaign... One door closes, others open
Lydia Kou 12/05 91205.0/1
Dear Friends,
As always, I am so grateful for your encouraging supportive responses to my last email note with subject line "Kou Campaign, Where are We?" Today, I would like to close the loop and bring the Kou Campaign to a close.
After the ROV conducted their 1% race audit, our campaign team asked for a demo of how and which Palo Alto precinct they audited. ROV audited Precinct 2118 which encompasses the Adobe Meadow and Charleston Meadow neighborhoods (precinct map attached). I highly recommend reading Doug Moran's blog to further understand what we learned about recounts and audits, here is the link to the blog http://www.paloaltoonline.com/blogs/p/2014/12/02/election-recounts-an-illusion
The Official Final Results posted on the Registrar of Voters' website are as follows -

- Cory Wolbach @ 8,235 votes

I offer Cory Wolbach my congratulations on winning the 5th City of Palo Alto Council seat.

Registration @ 36,781
Ballots Cast @ 21,784
Turnout (%) @ 59.2
Closing the campaign race, Doug Moran's quote in his blog of the Serenity Prayer resonates with me. Here it is in a slightly adapted version... "Father, give us courage to change what must be altered, serenity to accept what cannot be helped, and the insight to know the one from the other."
Moving forward, I ask you to please, please, please, stay involved. We will be faced with many challenges in the next few years. There are developments in the pipeline for consideration and review at City Hall, which will come with traffic, safety, and parking impacts, affecting our fragile infrastructure, city services and quality of life. Our consolidated voice can make a giant difference and hold City Council accountable. As stated in the City's Budget document http://www.cityofpaloalto.org/civicax/filebank/documents/43341 , here is a iteration of the City's Mission and Value statement, as well as the City's organizational chart -
City's Mission - The government of the City of Palo Alto exists to promote and sustain a superior quality of life in Palo Alto. In partnership with our community, our goal is to deliver cost-effective services in a personal, responsive and innovative manner.
City's Values -
Quality - superior delivery of services
Courtesy - providing service with respect and concern
Efficiency - productive, effective use of resources
Integrity - straight-forward, honest and fair relations
Innovation - excellence in creative thought
Lastly but never least, remember theCity's Organizational Chart I presented at most of my events? Here is an updated 2015 version -
Us, residents, are at the top, City Council represents us. Let's not forget.
Again, thank you, thank you so much.
Kind regards,
Lydia
