Lord, teach me to seek You

Do you remember the TV show “Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego” from several years ago? The three contestants on the show were given the challenge of finding the head of an international crime organization, applying their geography knowledge as they were given clues to track the whereabouts city to city and country to country. The show was actually created in response partially to a National Geography survey that revealed that Americans were strongly lacking in geography knowledge and only one in four could locate the Pacific Ocean or the Soviet Union.

Just as these contestants had a chance to ultimately discover the whereabouts of Carmen Sandiego, through their geography skills, Christians have an opportunity to discover where Jesus Christ is “on earth." If we will start putting on our “spiritual glasses” and look for God in His Word, in conversations with others, through circumstances, in prayer, creation, and other common day events, we can also track and appreciate a living relationship with Him throughout our entire day.

After the loss of my sister and fiancé within 30 days of each other, I began crying out to God more intensely than ever before. For 8 months I cried out, “Lord, it’s been 8 months..let’s get on with it!”. I did not hear anything for those 8 months. But right after that, I began to see and hear God again, in the little things, for example, a certain Bible verse would seem to come alive to me, as if that particular verse was written just for me!

I want to encourage you to start crying out, “Lord, teach me to seek You. I don’t know how and I don’t know what You mean, but I want to find You. I don’t want to wait until I get to Heaven to begin enjoying a close relationship with You. I want to see Your hand and heart at work in my life, and those around me, every single day.”

If you actively "look" for God in the details, you will find Him. Each and every day!
