Sadly, while Nazi required the Jews to wear the Star of David,  some politicians in California want Asian Americans to be labeled by ancestry and viewed as LESS than REAL Americans.

AB 1726 is the same as AB 176, and the same as SCA 5, all aimed at undercutting California Constitution Proposition 209!

We oppose AB 1726 because it's a politically motivated bill that will damage our beloved State of California.

Biased data collected based on faulty assumptions can lead to devastating consequences. In this melting pot, the concept of race or ethnicity has become so ambiguous and offensive that US Census is considering abandoning the term by year 2020. Furthermore, how can California make any healthcare or education related decisions based on ancestry when such a practice is legally forbidden elsewhere in the civilized world?

If we look back in history, every time Asian Americans were stratified, it had NEVER been for the good. Be it the Chinese Exclusion Act, or the Japanese Interment Act. So it was for the Jews or the other minorities. Jewish Americans did not achieve full equality until they became free of the census label in later 20th century.

Sadly, while Nazi required the Jews to wear the Star of David,  some politicians in California want Asian Americans to be labeled by ancestry and viewed as LESS than REAL Americans.

Asian Americans NEVER asked for special favors, NEVER wanted special legislations for special treatment, NEVER dwelled on the shameful past of being discriminated against, NEVER pitted one race against another, and NEVER resented those who worked harder. Instead, we just wanted to be AMERICANS, without any other label. We believe in the same American dream where we are "one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all”.

Think about the tug of war legislation around bathrooms and its long term consequences. California has led the nation on many progressive issues. We shouldn’t lead the nation by funding a racially discriminatory bill. Members of the Honorable Assembly and Senate: Don't let YOUR legislative record be tainted by knowingly vote yes for a racially biased bill.

If you agree, please copy the above and email to the Assembly Appropriation Committee. Email address below. They will decide on AB 1726 around 5/26-5/27, 2016! Take Action! No vote = no status = no voice!
