Huff Selects Business Professional as Woman of the Year
Mei Mei Huff Honored for Work and Contributions in the 29th Senate District

SACRAMENTO : Senate Minority Leader Bob Huff (R-Diamond Bar) has selected a Los Angeles County businesswoman and philanthropist as the “Woman of the Year” for the 29th Senate District. Mei Mei Huff serves as the principal, but non-paid liaison to the Chinese community for Senator Huff’s office.

Her networking skills within the Asian community helped lead to the creation of the Heritage School Act (SB 129). She also played a key role in crafting SJR 23, which calls upon U.S. Congress to formally apologize for the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 and SCR 10 that recognizes the importance of the Lunar New Year celebrations by Asian communities. She also played a key role helping China’s Jiangsu Province become California’s official Sister Province.

“It’s my honor to select my wife as the Woman of the Year for the 29th Senate District, a tribute that she so richly deserves,” said Senator Huff. “The contributions she has made to my Senate District and the State of California are well documented and deserve recognition.”

In a tradition that dates back to 1987, every March the California State Senate celebrates Women’s History Month by honoring women throughout California whose contributions helped improve their communities.

Mei Mei Huff is a dynamic and accomplished international business professional. After completing an MBA from St. John’s University in New York, she obtained her CPA license in California and worked for Arthur Andersen as an auditor and tax consultant. Her clients included utilities, hospitalities, hospitals, banks, and real estate companies. After serving with Arthur Andersen for five years, she started and ran her own CPA accounting firm for 10 years, then tailored her services to specialize in business development, marketing and consulting through her company, Mei Mei Ho Consulting, LLC.

Mei Mei has served as Director of Foreign Trade for the Industry Manufacturers Council and for the past fourteen years has served as Vice President of Asian Operations and International Marketing for Pacific Palms Hotel and Conference Center in the City of Industry. Her work experience spans not only California and the rest of the United States, but the Far East as well.

Mei Mei has spent most of her adult life giving back to the communities in which she has lived. In February, 2013 Mei Mei was named Chairman of the San Gabriel Valley Lincoln Club chapter. The San Gabriel Valley is home to the largest concentration of Asians in America. Mei Mei has served as an active board member of numerous non-profit and community organizations, including Inter-Community Hospital, Diamond Bar Sister City Association, Soochow University Alumni Association, Pacific Rim MBS Association, Southern California Chinese Computer Association, Walnut Family Festival, Hacienda Heights Lions Club, Mt. San Antonio College Foundation, Rowland Heights Chinese Association and the Walnut-San Dimas Sheriff Advisory Board.

A community leader, Mei Mei is a frequent guest of various Chinese media outlets and has hosted a radio program educating the Chinese community to public policies that may impact their personal and business lives.

She helped elect the first Asian to the Walnut City Council to get a better voice for the growing Asian population in the City of Walnut, and since then, has been a constant force collaborating to elect quality candidates to elected office at all levels.

Mei Mei and her husband Bob have three sons, a daughter, and six grandchildren.
