Coordinator of Case Management/Therapist
Dean of Students Office

Summary

The Coordinator is a full-time, 12-month position reporting to the Senior Associate Dean of Students and the Director of Counseling at Emmons Student Wellness Center.  The position is shared between two offices that work collaboratively, fulfilling two very important roles.

 

As the Coordinator of Case Management, the position manages the confidential data and communications of the Student Success Team in addition to supporting individual students in need of behavioral intervention.  Additionally, the Coordinator is an essential part of the Disability Services team.

 

As a therapist working within Emmons Student Wellness Center, the position will carry a caseload of clients, conduct intakes, and perform outreach to the student population.  The Therapist will also be expected to participate in clinical case reviews with the medical and counseling teams

 

This work requires strong interpersonal skills, initiative, an understanding of relevant federal and state laws as well as school policies, critical thinking, and the ability to make decisions  autonomously.

Essential Functions

Behavioral Intervention Team: Take leadership role in managing the data system by which the campus community reports students of concern and timely follow up.

Academic Probation: The Coordinator is responsible for managing the meetings required of all students on academic probation prior to the clearance period at the beginning of each semester.  

Disability Services: The Dean of Students Office oversees Disability Services for all students in need of temporary or permanent accommodations.  The caseload of students is divided by the Disability Services Coordinator among members of the office.  

Counseling: The Therapist will carry a small caseload of clinical clients and work with these clients under the direct supervision of the Director of Counseling.  The Therapist will participate in case reviews and team meetings with all Emmons providers.

Outreach: The Therapist will identify and outreach to underrepresented groups on campus who historically have not sought mental health services in the past and encourage referrals or alternate counseling services.

Other:  It is expected that the Coordinator will maintain current licensure and participate in professional development annually to remain current on best practices as well as relevant laws.

Job Requirements

A Master’s degree in Social Work or a related field and licensure are required.  Three to five years of experience in higher education is also expected as is three to five years providing therapeutic counseling.  The person in this role must be a strong collaborator and have the ability to think clearly and remain calm in the midst of stressful situations.
