PLAY iOS Club was established in November 2014 in the Tri-Valley area. Our purpose is to help high school and middle school students become interested in computer science and get familiar with the iOS application development on the Apple mobile device. The members will meet regularly to learn step-by-step very basic Objective-C programming.

For the 2014-2015 school year, we plan to have three consecutive programs.

Program 1 December 2014 – Feb 2015. Six sessions.

Location: Mr. Cong’s residence in Pleasanton.

Meet-up time: Sunday 10:00AM-12:00PM.

Program 1 is designed to help you start creating an iOS App with Xcode. You'll leave the first day with an app of your own on your device. We will learn the iOS development process and try out different SDK components. Students will start to write some code, but coding is not the focus of this program.

Number of students the program can accept: 10

Prerequisites:

· Have a Mac computer, laptop prefered, with Xcode 6.1 installed.

· Have an iOS device, prefer iPhone 4/5/6, with iOS 7.1 or later installed.

· Geometry and science courses.

· 8th grader or higher.

· Programming experience is desirable but not required.

Program 2 March 2015 – Jun 2015. Ten sessions.

Location: TBD.

Meet-up time: TBD

Program 2 is designed to help you build Object-C programming skills and get familiar with Apple iOS SDK. Students will learn the programming language, their use cases, and how iOS development really works. Coding is the focus of this program.

Number of students the program can accept: TBD

Prerequisites:

· All program 1 prerequisites

· Have taken Program 1 or equivalent.

Program 3 July 2015 – Sep 2015. Ten sessions.

Program 3 is designed to help students make a real iOS app and publish it in the AppStore. Students will learn how to design and debug an iOS App and how to integrate it with 3rd party APIs.  We may also attend a public development camp in Silicon Valley to demo our App.

Number of students the program can accept: TBD

Prerequisites:

· All program 2 prerequisites

· Have taken Program 2 or equivalent.
