How I made BOE allow AP exam for out-of-town students

I spoke to wwp superintendent and assistant superintendent. Wwp district only takes kids from its own district. Will learn from you.
It took me a month in February.
1. Have to figure out reason in your district--for mine, after I repeatedly asked why, they finally said AP Chinese is on computer, they didn't have enough lab to accommodate even students from the same district if they didn't take Millburn's own AP class. Quite discouraging when the VP for scheduling gives you this logistic problem.
2. First they said they didn't have lab to accommodate about two dozen requests annually within the same district. Then they said they couldn't accommodate individual request. I called almost all big high schools in NJ and even in NYC--some give out of towners accommodation for paper form AP tests, but non for AP Chinese.
3. Then I called Livingston Huaxia's AP teacher Li Ping 老师, who told me there was a "deferred" AP testing window for those who can't take regular tests early May. I wrote out all arguments requesting deferred test date so the district could not use lack of computers or lab time as an excuse.
4. Gathered parents to appear at BOE meeting several days before the filing deadline in February. 5. BOE then agreed at the last moment, reach out to us and we spread the word for students to file application right on the deadline.
Since the deferred test date frees up many computers, the district can take in students from out of town.
If you are trying for students who take AP Chinese within your district, it is best if those parents come to the board and speak, then you take it from there.
