市长侯选人:


Steven Choi :  

韩国出身,匹茨堡大学图书馆系博士, 2012年当选市长。之前八年为市议员。1998年到2004年为Irvine 学区理事。同时参与多项组织与活动。


Mary Ann Gaido :   

曾任Irvine 市两任市议员。多年来担任市政规划专员,参与市政办公、商贸、居民点的规划。她创建了尔湾市Bommer Canyon 永久自然生态保护公园。同时参加多项组织与活动。


市议员侯选人:


Larry Agran :  

1966年自 U C Berkeley 毕业。哈佛大学法学院博士荣誉毕业生,公共事业法律专业。1978年开始,多次担任市长、市议员。致力於尔湾市的城市整体规划, 自然生态保护区 。在他的市长任内,击败了将 El Toro 军用机场改建成民用国际机场的提案,将其改建成为橙县大公园。


Jeffrey Lalloway :  

1986年Rutgers University 荣誉毕业生,艺术、政治专业。自Villanova University School of Law 毕业后,在费城执业律师。数年前迁居尔湾。目前在橙县有律师事务所。2012年起,任尔湾市议员。同时参与多项组织与活动。


Melissa Fox :  

毕业於U C Irvine和 Brandeis University and Tulane University School of Law, 加州法律及国家税务法庭成员。执业律师,居住尔湾多年。 目前担任尔湾市社区服务专员。同时参加多项组织和活动。



2014 Irvine City Official Candidate Biographies

Mayor Candidates:

Steven S. Choi, Ph.D., Born in South Korea, Steven Choi earned his B.A. degree from Kyung Hee University in Seoul, South Korea. He then continued his post-graduate education, earning his master's degree in Library Science from Louisiana State University, and his Ph.D. in Library and Information Science at the University of Pittsburgh. He was elected mayor in 2012, after having served eight years on the Irvine City Council. Previously, he served as a Trustee of the Irvine Unified School District from 1998 to 2004. Mayor Choi serves as Irvine’s representative to the National League of Cities, the Southern California Association of Governments Regional Council, the Orange County League of Cities, the City of Irvine/IUSD Liaison Committee, the Orange County Sanitation District, the Library Advisory Board of the Orange County Library System, the Community Energy Partnership, the Orange County City Selection Committee, the Orange County Council of Governments and on the Orange County Great Park Board of Directors.

Mary Ann Gaido, She was elected twice to the Irvine City Council serving eight years. Currently serve as a City Councilmember/Planning Commissioner. She was successful in establishing Irvine’s first Animal Care Center providing exceptional care to abandoned pets in a state-of-the-art facility. She was instrumental in promoting Healthy Communities by successfully introducing the first ban on smoking in City Hall. Mary Ann is a Recipient of City of Irvine public plaque in Bommer Canyon for 1977 leadership in purchase of Bommer Canyon Cattle Camp – the first permanent Irvine Open Space. As Planning Commissioner, she supported permanent protection of 16,000 acres of sensitive natural lands and parkland with 1988 successful Irvine Open Space Initiative


City Councilmen Candidates:

Jeffrey Lalloway, was elected to the Irvine City Council in November 2010. He graduated in 1986 with highest honors from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey with a Bachelor of Arts in political science, Jeffrey attended Villanova University School of Law.  After many years as an attorney in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Jeffrey moved his practice to Irvine. He currently practices family law in Orange County. Jeffrey and his wife Laura are the proud parents of two beautiful daughters, Regan, age 9, and Sydney, a 5-year-old. Laura Lalloway is a Medical Science Liaison with a Fortune 500 medical and consumer products company. Currently, Jeffrey is a member of the Board of Directors for the Orange County Transportation Authority, the Orange County Sanitation District, the Orange County Housing Authority Advisory Committee, and the Newport Bay Watershed Advisory Executive Committee. Previously, Jeffrey served as Vice Chairman of the Irvine Finance Commission


Larry Agran, graduated from UC Berkeley in 1966, then from Harvard Law School, specializing in Public Interest Law. Larry continued his career as a public interest attorney before winning a seat on the Irvine City Council in 1978.  As a highly respected public interest attorney and public policy expert, Mr. Agran founded and, in the 1990s, led a number of non-profit organizations: the Local Elected Officials Project; the Center for Innovative Diplomacy; and CityVote. As the founder and volunteer chair of Project ’99, from 1994 to 1999, Mr. Agran was especially active in working to promote creation of the Orange County Great Park at the former Marine Corps Base at El Toro.

Mr. Agran returned to service on the Irvine City Council when he was elected to the Council on November 3, 1998. On November 7, 2000 he was elected Mayor of Irvine, and on November 5, 2002 he was re-elected Mayor. After completing two consecutive terms as Mayor, Larry Agran was elected to a four-year term as an Irvine City Councilmember on November 2, 2004, and was re-elected on November 4, 2008. He was re-elected to a four-year term in November 2010.


Melissa Fox, is a long time Irvine resident. She is a mother, attorney, and city commissioner. She began her education at the University of California Irvine. She is a member of the Bars of the State of California and the United States Tax Court, and a graduate of Brandeis University and Tulane University School of Law. Her specialty is fighting fraud. In addition to her service on the Irvine Community Services Commission, Melissa participates in many professional and community organizations, including the Irvine Chamber of Commerce, the Exchange Club of Irvine, and the Women Lawyers Association.
