Dear Boston Fudan University Alumni Association and Boston Forward,
I wanted to personally thank each and every one of you for participating in the Chinese American Town Hall on the 26th of July. It was a great opportunity for me to hear some of the issues that are important to the Commonwealth and the Asian American community specifically. The number and quality of questions that were brought up are a powerful reminder of level of interest in this community and the work that must be done. With your help we can make Massachusetts a place with great jobs, with a growing economy that ensures every person what wants to work, can. A place with great schools, where your zip code doesn’t dictate your child’s quality of education. And a place with great communities where the state government is a true partner with cities and towns to ignite their economies and create jobs. I look forward to working with the Asian American community as we continue the march to election and beyond.
I am, like most of you, disgusted by Fox News commentator Bob Beckel’s use of the word 'Chinamen.' The ignorance and hate in his comments are repugnant and have no place in our political discourse.
Sincerely,
Charlie Baker
