Night

In a day full of chore we seldom think what peace is
All the meetings stuff in between lunch and breakfast and road home
Then dinner of family fun with a whole lot more wonderful engagement
By the time we put kids to sleep and prepare next’s day’s calendar then to bed
Taking over our windows and mirrors are not doors but iPhone and iPad
Yet occasionally we reach back to our childhood memories for this thing called night
The flickering lights mixed with dog barking and cat meowing and earth breathing
We can sense again the dust grounds its day’s effort and noises have their rest
The ridge of our roof becomes the cross hair of our lens
In came the vividly defined Moon occupying the vast starry sky
with the trees wash away their details of the day and merge into silhouette
This is the time the shapeless fire burning away the remaining loose desire
The simmering ember consumes all the left over fuel from the day’s affair
As our soot diffuses into this vast emptiness and quiet crystal clear
The anchor of the ship fell into the seabed then we can finally hear
the cicadas singing taking over the receding thumping of the engine
and the whole world bathe in this great universe of healing and forgiving
and the peace can touch everyone without praying and bartering
As we all lie defenselessly with our eye closed and door haphazardly locked
We are finally at awe with this enormous trust the night brings
