YG Protest by CACAGNY (Chinese American Citizens Alliance of Greater NY)
Hello CACAGNY members and friends,
CACAGNY's first press release protesting YG's song resulted in a well-attended demonstration against YG on Monday night. (Yesterday's CACAGNY email and Chinese translation attached.) CACAGNY's five steering founders attended with many other CACAGNY members and friends.
CBS, Sinovision, World Journal, and China Press covered the event http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2016/10/17/meet-the-flockers-yg/
We hadn't planned to have an inaugural event so soon, but CACAGNY rose to the occasion as the organizing group behind this demonstration.
The team learned just Saturday evening that there was a YG concert scheduled on Monday, and decided on Sunday to put this together since no one else was organizing a protest in NY. Don Lee, whom Boston Lodge's President and National Rep Esther and Wilson Lee also know well, and a host of others, including John Chen, with whom Stanley Ng and David Lee have worked on the Specialized High School and Peter Liang issues, Larry Sit, who translated our release (a donor of years of translations for Stuyvesant High School), Lorinda Chen and Linda Lam (whose media and demonstration expertise were very helpful), and community leaders such as Karlin Chan, Jimmy Chue, Jimmy Chin, Wennie Chin etc, made this happen. David dealt with all the press, coordinating other interested parties with Stanley who made many arrangements behind the scene (including attorney representation) and Chris Kwok who also went through the points at each stage.
Great team work! To coordinate such a successful effort for a good cause, in an amazingly short time right now is a real triumph. CACAGNY looks forward to our future successes together. Kudos and thanks to all!
