Dear Sir/Madam,

We are extremely concerned with the huge and alarming problems caused by the legalization of marijuana for recreational use in California.  Please take action against the marijuana operations and local ordinances for marijuana.  Otherwise, with the aggressiveness of the marijuana gangs, California may eventually become uninhabitable.  FDA maintains that marijuana is category I prohibited drug and all marijuana operations violate federal law.  We urge you to enforce federal laws now.

The biggest concern is that recreational marijuana outlet allows on-site consumption and thus is very dangerous to our community.   According to a AAA study, related traffic accidents and fatalities hiked 100% right after the legalization of recreational marijuana in the State of Washington.  Such accidents have already occurred in the Bay Area.  A police officer was killed at Hwy 880 by a driver under the influence of marijuana.  The Cannabis Task Force in San Francisco now even recommends pot consumption in parked cars!

According to California District Attorneys Association, a big problem is the incoming of organized criminal gangs.  Crime rate has already been on the rise due to this.  In the Bay Area, there have been break-ins of houses with hundreds of illegal marijuana plants by gangsters.

Illegal pot cultivations have caused catastrophic problems in water contamination, killing of wildlife and animals, and environmental damages, and have left some California counties, such as Yuba and Siskiyou, with no alternative but to declare a state of emergency.   Some of our water supply comes from those victimized counties and it is worrisome to Bay Area residents.  Dr. Stanton Glantz, Director of Center for TobaccoControl Research and Education in UCSF, maintains that second-hand pot can cause cancer and is more harmful than second-hand tobacco.

Marijuana is deleterious to our youngsters and can even cause permanent brain damage to them.  Colorado, after legalization, now becomes the state with the highest number of youngsters’ consumption of pot in the whole nation.  According to school principals in Calaveras County, they even had to clean up students’ clothes due to the unbearable pot odor on them.  In the Bay Area especially in San Francisco, marijuana cookies can readily be bought under-the-table for $4 apiece, based on parents’ testimonies.  The situation is so pernicious and out of control already!

Suffice it to say, it is imperative that you take action against marijuana operations and local laws now.  U.S. Attorney General, Jeff Sessions, has rescinded Obama’s hand-free policy on marijuana and it is your responsibility to enforce federal laws in this aspect.  Please contact me so that we can have a meeting to provide you with more local details for you to take action against marijuana in our area.  I can also be reached by phone at (put your phone number here).                           Thank you very much in advance.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
