Huff Recognized for Defending City Interests in Senate
League of California Cities Rewards Senator Huff with Top Score

SACRAMENTO: Senator Bob Huff (R-San Dimas) has earned a top score of 93 percent and earned *special recognition* from the League of California Cities for a series of votes on key bills during the 2015 legislative session. The agency focuses on sponsoring and supporting legislation to help develop new community and economic development tools, infrastructure, affordable housing and transportation funding.

“Senator Huff is recognized for his consistent concern for local government issues reflected in his advocacy on the Senate Floor for the return of local redevelopment authority with AB 2, and refusal to vote for measures that would undermine local authority,” the League of California Cities wrote in its 2015 report card for key city bills.

“Receiving one of the top scores plus the special recognition is a wonderful honor,” said Senator Huff. “I served for nine years as Mayor and Councilmember of Diamond Bar. I view policy decisions not only through the eyes of the State Legislature, but through my city experience as well. I am proud to represent the needs of my cities in the State Legislature."

Senator Huff was cited for his support of measures to increase the state’s Low-Income housing Tax Credit from $70 to $170 million (AB 35) and his support for legislation to authorize sanitation districts in Los Angeles County to acquire, construct, operate, maintain and furnish facilities for the diversion, management and treatment of storm water (SB 485).

The Senator also received high marks for opposing measures that would have undermined authority for local agencies to enforce parking ordinances (AB 718) and establish unrealistically low parking ratios for various affordable housing projects (AB 744).

This is not the first time that Senator Huff has been recognized by the League of California Cities for his work on behalf of, and tireless support for local government and local control. He was named as the League’s “Legislator of the Year” in 2011 for his efforts to save redevelopment agencies from elimination in the Governor’s budget.
